I recently bought a RX Vega 56 and wonder why I have so few FPS (200-300 on average). Have now expected something in the thousands range. My processor is the Intel Xeon E3-1230 v3 3.3GHz.
Sometimes I also have short drops to 30 or so
A friend has just a GTX 1060 6GB and an I7 (do not know exactly which) and has just loose over 1000

Even ne RTX Titan does not make a 1000 FPS in Minecraft, the well-known narrative lies
200 FPS are enough
Hmm. As far as I know Minecraft for AMD graphics cards is unoptimized
Minecraft is notoriously well-known for almost always limiting the processor, and the AMD driver is known to be able to boost a processor limit significantly in some situations. In short: Minecraft runs better on nVidia cards and the worse the CPU, the bigger the difference between AMD and nVidia.
Minecraft does not work as well on Nvidia cards on AMD cards. I also doubt that your friend has over 1000 FPS. Do you use the same graphics settings as your friend?
And besides, what would you bring so many FPS?
