Do you only have one life in Minecraft at Difficult Hard?

Is there a difference between Hard and Hardcore or is it the same level of difficulty in Minecraft?

Hardcore = Hard, with a life.

In Hardcore the difficulty level can't be changed. There are ALWAYS monsters there! If you die then the world is erased forever!
