How many cores for root server?

I want to play games like Minecraft with 2-10 people, but I don't know how many processor cores you need.

I heard that the MC can only use a maximum of 4 cores, is that true or is 6-8 cores worthwhile? And is MC-Host24 really the best hoster?

One core is enough for the server, but it has to be fast… So faster than these 2.4 GHz crutches…

What version of Minecraft do you want to use?
The new Minecraft versions draw a lot of power compared to 1.8.8.
