I want to buy a root server for a Minecraft network. But I do not know what I need how much. I configured one with 5 cores, 5GB RAM, 20GB SSD, 1Ip address and 1-5 gameserver. Is that enough if I ever have 100 players or what should / can I take out? And are the game servers for each subserver? I would like to have more than 5 sub-servers
So with 5 GB Ram you will not get far if you want to have 100 players.
If you do not install any plugins or mods for 100 players min 8 GB.
However, if you want to install mods and plugins that will logically consume more RAM accordingly, you'll be bombarding more RAM.
where did you find the server? Why do you need more than 5 sub-servers (especially how to do that?) You can't re-virtualize in a virtuallization…)
I would say that it is best to have a consultation on the whole need of a person's experience and you should then provide this person directly the exact details and data available to the whole evaluation and to be able to plan.
As long as you do not want to use CloudNet but pure BungeeCord we're happy to have a conversation.
Mc-host 24.de offers this root server. The subservers are normal servers which can only be reached by the main server like eg. B. On GommeHD.net the game modes. Each round has its own subserver. Now you know why you need more than 5 sub-servers. Gomme has more than 100 of them
But now as in the comment above, 5GB of RAM is not enough, what can I save? Do I really need 20GB of storage space? I do not think so
Well, I would say that the 20GB are just right. For many sub-servers and given if backups, synonymous, the question is whether the 20GB in this operating system is already deducted.
Important is of course the memory of MC servers per subserver, I would min. 1GB calculation and per CPU core max. 6 players.
How exactly does the budget look like? Are there any sponsors / team members?
Also looked at other hoster? My personal favorite: https://deinserverhost.de There either a Dedicated or a Root, if the money is not enough holding a vServer (KVM or Game SSD) (does not make much difference to the root)
But if you want, we can gladly have a conversation together to adapt it directly to your project.
Teamspeak / Discord / Skype / TeamViewer…
But I would not save much more, rather later if it is a success expand and start small first.
Yes, we're happy to have a conversation
