The 2 components that are most important are: CPU (single core performance) and RAM. But if you have a bad CPU, more RAM won't do you any good either

It's actually more complicated than that, but to a certain extent you can say that. More ram definitely helps with FPS. Especially with small amounts like you. I always add around 9gb to Minecraft and that works pretty well in large modpacks. But CPU also plays a major role.
