Minecraft fps are limited to 40 even though I have a 120hz monitor?

I just noticed that my fps are strangely limited to 40. I play with optifine, disabled vsync and set fps to unlimited. I also tried it without vsync and without optifine. But I have a 120hz monitor and my laptop definitely manages more than 40 fps. I urgently need help because I don't want to play at 40 fps.
